Focus
Set at focal point
Focus means placing the material surface (or, for thick cuts, a point inside the stock) exactly at the focal distance. In focus, the beam is a needle; out of focus, it is a torch.
Focus before every job and after every material change. It is the single most common reason "yesterday’s settings" stop working today.
