Defocus

Wider off-focus beam

Defocusing deliberately raises or lowers the head off the focal point to fatten the spot — used for wide score lines, softening acrylic engraves, and some powder-coat removal tricks.

It is a technique, not a mistake, but only when it is on purpose. Note the offset in your settings log so the trick is repeatable.
