Speed

Head travel mm/s

Speed is how fast the head travels, in mm/s (some ecosystems display mm/min — multiply mm/s by 60). Power and speed trade against each other: same energy per millimeter can come from fast-and-hot or slow-and-cool.

Engraving runs fast (thousands of mm/min); cutting runs slow. When a chart says "200 mm/s cut" on a diode, it is a fast-multipass strategy, not a single-pass claim.
